Discover the resort of Sunny Beach and Nessebar

Sunny Beach  & Nessebar

Bulgaria has something to offer everyone and the area around Grenada Aparthotel is no different. From shopping to sunbathing; from exciting family waterparks to relaxing pools; from lively bars and nightclubs to quiet candlelit restaurants; from the hustle and bustle of a busy holiday resort to the peace and tranquillity of ancient Nessebar. It is all here for you to explore and discover those aspects that represent your perfect holiday.

Sunny Beach has a fantastic 8km stretch of beautiful sandy coastline. There is a lovely stretch of beach called Cacao Beach within 50m of the hotel. One of the great aspects of this apartment is that is it conveniently located between the resort centre of Sunny Beach and the ancient settlement of Nessebar.

The centre of Sunny Beach resort is approx 2km (north) from Grenada Aparthotel. It is possible to walk to the centre in approx 20 minutes. The tall Kuban Hotel is a useful landmark to watch out for. This is located at the start of the pedestrianised area in the resort centre, to the right of the main Nessebar to St Vlas road. All buses stop on each side of the road opposite this pedestrianised area. A bus to the resort centre takes only 5 minutes and costs 1 Lev (50c/45p) per person (in 2009). To the left of the Kuban Hotel (West) is predominantly a market area, for shopping etc. To the right (East) is the main resort centre with bars, restaurants, banks, shops and, of course, the beachfront.

The ancient town of Nessebar is a World Cultural Heritage site and is 2km (south) from Grenada Aparthotel. It is one of the oldest towns in Europe and is full of impressive buildings and churches of architectural and archaeological significance. There are plenty of lovely little shops, fantastic restaurants and stunning sea views. Old Nessebar is the successor to the ancient Thracian settlement called Messambria founded in the Second century AD. In 510 AD it was turned into Greek colony town by Dorian settlers and became a rival to the town of Apollo for the Black Sea trade. In 72 AD it was occupied by a Roman garrison. It is home to almost 40 preserved churches dating from the 11th to the 14 century.

Finally, you don’t have to worry that your apartment is in the middle of nowhere. The area immediately around Grenada Aparthotel is well developed with a wide selection of shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants.

Sunny Beach is 20km north from Bourgas Airport, just a 20-30 minute journey after your arrival in Bulgaria.
